Pope Leo XIV arrives at Baabda Presidential Palace to a traditional folkloric welcome

Pope Leo XIV arrived at the Presidential Palace in Baabda on Sunday, marking one of the key stops in his historic visit to Lebanon.

Amid heavy rainfall, the Pope greeted the crowds gathered along the roads from inside the popemobile, waving to the faithful who braved the weather to welcome him.

At the palace entrance, the pontiff was received with a traditional folkloric ceremony, where performers in Lebanese attire showcased cultural dances and music in his honor.

As part of the welcoming program, a light show was projected onto the façade of the Presidential Palace, which the Pope watched upon his arrival.

The Baabda stop is part of the Pope’s broader three-day itinerary in Lebanon, which includes public events, religious gatherings, and private visits to key national and spiritual landmarks.
