Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a series of talks and contacts on Saturday in the framework of following up on the situation in the region and its repercussions on Lebanon.
In this regard, PM Mikati said that the international community should support Lebanon in various means to aid the Syrian refugees, considering that this file is a priority for the cabinet since it has various consequences on the political, health, social, and security fields.
“Despite the promises made in the past to support Lebanon, the Lebanese government did not receive but a few support although the number of refugees is on a continuous increase,” Mikati said.
In this context, Mikati called for considering the file of the refugees as an international priority adding that file cannot be solved before solving the Syrian crisis via peaceful means.
Also at the Grand Serail, Mikati met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Lebanon Ninette Kelley and with Caretaker Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour.
