President Sleiman supports including neutrality article in the constitution

President Michel Sleiman slammed on Monday the twin bomb attacks in the Turkish border town of Reyhanli, calling for "punishing the perpetrators."

The bloodshed taking place in Syria has spilled over into its neighboring countries, with Turkey accusing the Syrian regime of being behind car bombings near the border killing 48 people on Saturday.

President Sleiman also met at the Presidential Palace in Baabda with outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati and tackled with him the latest developments in the country.

He also held talks with caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel who briefed him over the preparations of the Ministry for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

As well, President Sleiman received a delegation from the Kataeb party who submitted a proposal focusing on introducing a constitutional amendment, which calls for neutrality and dissociating the country from the regional conflicts.

President Sleiman also held talks with General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim pertaining to the efforts exerted by Lebanese authorities to release the Lebanese hostages in Aazaz.

Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 22nd of May. Only two have so far been released.
