Berri says every bullet fired into the air is an insult to the dignity of the martyrs

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reaffirmed that national unity and civil peace are "a red line" that must not be crossed under any circumstances, warning that any attempt to undermine them would threaten the very existence of Lebanon and serve Israeli interests.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the "Kelna Beirut" group headed by former minister Mohammad Choucair, Berri said that internal strife would only benefit Israel and its projects, which he said cannot succeed without fueling division among Lebanese.

"Strife is dormant, and God curses those who awaken it," Berri said, warning against tensions among citizens of the same country and even the same religious community. He added, "I am Shiite in identity, Sunni in inclination, and Arab in belonging," in a call for unity across sectarian lines.

Marking the first day of the ceasefire taking effect, Berri expressed gratitude to residents of Beirut, as well as those in Mount Lebanon and northern regions, for hosting displaced families from the south, the southern suburbs, and the Bekaa.

He also condemned celebratory gunfire, saying the practice poses a direct threat to lives and property. "Every bullet fired into the air is an insult to the dignity of the martyrs," he said, adding that such acts violate not only the law but also moral and religious principles.
