Hand grenade tossed at ISF vehicle in Tripoli's Abi Samra

The state-run National News Agency reported on Friday that an unknown individual tossed a hand grenade at an Internal Security Forces car parked outside the police station in Tripoli's Abi Samra.

Military expert rushed to the scene while security apparatuses launched investigations into the incident.

Sources told LBCI that the incident came in protest of the killing of wanted suspect Abdel Hamid Hassoun.

Only material damage was reported and no further information were reported in this regard.

Earlier, the state-run National News Agency reported that Lebanese citizen identified as Abdel Hamid Hassoun was killed in a exchange of fire with an Infernal Security Forces patrol in the district of Zgharta North of Lebanon.

The agency added that Hassoun, a wanted suspect, was heading towards the area of al-Aayrouniyeh when the security forces began chasing him in Mejdlaya.

He took a secondary road but he was surprised to face a dead end.

The suspect soon went out of his car and opened fire at the members of the patrol. Policemen fired back, severely injuring him.

Hassoun was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his wounds soon after.
