UAE denies hosting Netanyahu after reports of “secret” meeting

The United Arab Emirates denied reports circulating about a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the country after Netanyahu’s office announced that he had held a “secret” meeting with the UAE president.

In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry said: “The United Arab Emirates denies reports regarding a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the country or the reception of any Israeli military delegation on its territory.”

It added: “The UAE affirms that its relations with Israel are public and are not based on secrecy or hidden arrangements. Accordingly, any claims regarding undisclosed visits or arrangements are baseless unless issued by the UAE’s competent official authorities.”
