REPORT: France's Hollande: We share with Riyadh a unified stance regarding Lebanon's unity

French President Francois Hollande arrived on Sunday to Saudi Arabia where he is set to meet former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Syrian opposition leader Ahmed Jarba.
"The defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia aims to maintain stability in the region," Hollande said, noting that it is not directed against anyone.

"We share with Riyadh a unified stance regarding Lebanon's unity and independence," Hollande said following discussions with the king of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

He also pledged to meet demands to provide the Lebanese Armed Forces with further military equipment.

"The Saudi king said during his meeting with President Hollande that France and the Kingdom voice common stances regarding the Iranian and Syrian files as well as other regional crises," a source close to Hollande said.

"During the meeting, Saudi king Abdulaziz accused Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of destroying his own country while being the reason behind the advent of Islamic extremists," the same source added.
