REPORT: Issue of Fouad Boutros project raises controversy between necessity and heritage

The Head of Beirut Municipality Bilal Hamad said on Tuesday that the city of Beirut is suffering from various problems including the traffic jam, and the lack of green spaces, pointing out that the city decided to implement short-term measures to face these issues.

In this regard, Hamad stated that real estates that will be affected when implementing the Fouad Boutros project were bought, adding that none of the buildings is listed on the list of heritage buildings.

Hamad pointed out that the Fouad Boutros project is not new, stressing that claims that implementing the project aims at dividing Ashrafieh are false allegations.
