REPORT: FM Bassil: We will work on establishing Syrian refugee camps outside Lebanon

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed on Monday that he will work on establishing Syrian refugee camps outside the Lebanese territories, calling for Arab support to confront terrorism and defend Lebanon against Israel.

In a press conference held in Kuwait, Bassil called for halting the influx of refugees and re-deploying them in neighboring countries including Syria.

“Any kind of assistance provided by Arab states to Lebanon leads to defend the states themselves,” he said.

FM Bassil also noted that the $3 billion Saudi grant for the Lebanese Armed Forces is "unprecedented," and said: “A decision was issued to back the Lebanese army while providing it with weapons”.

“Lebanon cannot distance itself from terrorism. The country is fighting terrorism for all the Arabs and all the world,” he added.
