[PHOTOS+VIDEO] Akkar's Zawarib bids farewell to slain LAF officer Joe Farfour
The remote village of Zawarib in Lebanon's Akkar bade farewell on Wednesday to Lieutenant Joe Farfour who was killed in a shoot out that occurred on Tuesday night in the al-Qamouaa region of Akkar's barren range.

The Lebanese army had confirmed in a statement that a military vehicle was ambushed by armed men on board a Honda vehicle in the area of al-Qamouaa, and opened fire at the army members, killing one officer, a soldier, and injuring another.

The martyrs were identified as, Lieutenant Joe Farfour and Sergeant Faouzi Abd Ali.

The army also confirmed that following a series of raids, security forces managed to arrest citizen Baraa al-Kik, the prime suspect of the attack against the said army patrol.

The statement added that the other suspect, identified as Ali Taleb was found dead, after having committed suicide.

Sources reported that Taleb had shot himself when his uncle and two mayors from the village of Fnaideq were attempting to convince him to hand himself over to authorities.

In a similar event, unknown assailants opened fire at another Lebanese Army checkpoint in the Bekaa's Ferzol region hours after the aforementioned attack, prompting soldiers to retaliate, however no casualties were reported.
