REPORT: 2 children killed, 5 wounded in Akkar explosion

Two children were killed and five others were wounded on Saturday when an unidentified object exploded in Lebanon's northeastern town of Akkar.

The victims, mostly from Al Ali family, were playing with the said object in Al Baher neighborhood near the Qleiaat air base.

They were all taken to Al-Kheir Hospital in Minnieh.

The Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces launched an investigation into the incident which resulted from the explosion of a naval mine the children were playing with, according to the ISF.
