REPORT: Maronite Christians welcome Patriarch Rai in Jordan

Maronite Christians in Jordan received on Saturday Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai who left Beirut on Friday morning aboard a private plane heading to the Holy Land via Jordan on a religious visit that has angered Hezbollah, a sworn enemy of Israel.

Rai's visit is the first by a Lebanese religious official to the Holy Land since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 and is intended to welcome Pope Francis' visit to Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories that kicks off Saturday.
