REPORT: Syrian refugees in Akkar hold protests against Syrian presidential elections
Hundreds of Syrian refugees held a protest on Sunday in the Akkar town of Kusha to condemn The presidential elections set to be held in Syria on June 3 which are poised to keep President Bashar Assad in power.

Protests living in tents in unofficial refugee camps near Kusha participated in the protest march held under the banner of a "blood election," two days prior the presidential bid in Syria.

Last Wednesday, tens of thousands of Syrians living in Lebanon headed to their embassy in the region of Yarze near Beirut to cast their vote in an election labeled by the Syrian opposition and its backers as a "farce."

Two candidates are facing Assad in the vote, which will only be held in regime-held territory and exclude refugees who fled Syria through unofficial crossings.

Lebanon is home to a total of more than one million refugees from Syria.
