REPORT: International Support Group for Lebanon holds Rome conference on Lebanese Army support
The international conference in Rome should be the starting point of a long-term process to support stability in Lebanon through its army, Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Federica Mogherini said on Tuesday.

Her remarks came during the opening ceremony to kick off the conference attended by a several of foreign delegations to discuss future collaboration with the Lebanese Army.

For his part, Lebanese Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil said that the conference which aims at providing political support for the military, should be accompanied by concrete actions to improve the Army.

In turn, Lebanon's Defense Minister Samir Moqbel stressed the need for military requirements to improve the capabilities of the Lebanese Army.

The conference, which will group 40 countries and international organizations aims at boosting international cooperation to help Lebanon’s ill-equipped Army.
