REPORT: Hashish smuggling attempt thwarted in the Zahle prison

The state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday that an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of hashish and narcotics hidden in meat pastries was thwarted at the prison of Zahle in the Bekaa.

The agency added that a person identified by his initials J.K. (28) tried to smuggle 116 pills hidden in three kilograms of pastries.

The person was arrested and will be put under interrogation to reveal the circumstances behind the incident.

Last month, security forces foiled an attempt to smuggle hashish hidden inside apricots into the same prison.
