REPORT: Cautious calm overshadows South Lebanon as LAF, UNIFIL conduct patrols along border
Cautious calm prevailed over the region of the Lebanese border and the neighboring towns on Tuesday morning, while the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese Armed Forces conducted motorized patrols in the area.

This comes after Israel shelled towns in South Lebanon on Monday night, and fired flare bombs, while surveillance drones flew over Bent Jbeil and Tyre, in retaliation to the firing of two rockets from the region of Jormoq in Wadi al-Litani, South Lebanon towards Israel.

In this regard, the Lebanese army conducted combing operations in the region of Jormoq, where three rocket launchers were found. Reports said that one of the launchers was still loaded since it failed to launch due to a technical malfunction, adding that members of the LAF Engineering Corps worked on dismantling it.

Later in the day, the Lebanese Armed Forces Command issued a statement, whereby it said that army troops conducted search operations in the region of Wadi al-Jormoq, from where the unidentified assailants had fired rockets towards the occupied Palestinian lands on Monday night.

The statement added that the army patrol found in the said region a rocket launcher, as well as a 122-mm rocket prepared to be launched.

The army command pointed out that investigations were launched in order to reveal the identities of the perpetrators.
