REPORT: EDL seaside gate opened, employees have not yet arrived

The seaside gate of the Electricite Du Liban Company was opened Saturday, allowing the employees to take necessary equipment to repair a malfunction at the UNESCO power station, which provides a large area of the capital Beirut with electricity.

In this regard, the head of the contract workers committee Lebnan Makhoul told LBCI that they have nothing to do with the UNESCO failure, noting that the contract workers have been urging the employees to take the repair equipment since the first day of crash.

“We were sure that the employees will not come to take the equipment, since they refuse to repair damages,” he said.

Later on, the EDL workers said "accusing us of power rationing problems and blackouts across the Lebanese regions are false pretences to cover the failure of wrong policies in this sector".

They added that most of the malfunctions related to the work of EDL workers are quickly repaired.
