REPORT: Cardinal Rai from Canberra: Takfiri groups aim to offend Islam
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai reiterated on Tuesday his stance regarding takfiri groups, noting that they have no religion and aim to offend Islam.

"Members of the takfiri groups have lost their humanity," Cardinal Rai said speaking from Canberra, the capital city of Australia.

"Those organizations are buttressed by countries that provide them with funds, weapons and political cover," he added.

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros al-Rai arrived on Friday (October 24) to Sydney on a two-week pastoral visit, upon the invitation of Maronite Bishop of Australia Antoine Charbel Tarabay.

During his visit, Cardinal Rai is meeting with senior Australian figures, members of the Maronite community as well as Lebanese expatriates.

So far he has toured through several cities in the southern continent, home to many of Lebanon's expatriates.
