REPORT: More than 37,000 people participate in the 2014 Beirut marathon

The Lebanese streets across the capital Beirut were shut on Sunday to make way for more than 37,000 people from 94 countries who registered for the 2014 Beirut marathon.

The state-run National News Agency noted that most of the runners participated in the five and 10 kilometer races.

The event is organized by the Beirut Marathon Association, and sponsored by Lebanon's Central Bank.

This year's marathon was held under the slogan, "Peace, Love, Run."
