REPORT: PM Salam chairs cabinet session at Grand Serail

A cabinet session was held on Thursday at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij voiced the cabinet's condemnation of the Israeli strike on Syria’s Quneitra, asserting that any other statement issued in this regard solely reflects the opinion of that person.

Minister Jreij also noted that Israel constantly violates international resolutions, mainly resolution 1701, "through its repeated violations of Lebanon's territory and army.”

Jreij reiterated PM Salam’s call to elect a new president for the country, stressing that the confrontation of any attack lies in achieving unity among the Lebanese people.

He also announced that the cabinet approved an advance payment of 45 billion LBP dedicated for the establishment of prisons to the Development and Construction Council.

Similarly, Jreij noted that the cabinet approved funding for the development and completion of infrastructure in Sidon's main neighborhoods.

For his part, Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Zeaiter stated prior to the session that a security plan should not be implemented in Lebanon’s Bekaa, stressing that there aren’t any confrontations between security forces and citizens in the said region.

In turn, Minister of Environment Mohammad Mashnouq praised the calm that the prevailed in Lebanon following the Quneitra attack, stressing that the cabinet is adherent to UN resolution 1701.
