REPORT: Road construction works halted near Bentael nature reserve
Sources told LBCI on Monday that contacts have been held with the concerned authorities over the controversial excavation works near the Bentael nature reserve in Jbeil.

“The contacts have led to halting all works on a road adjacent to the reserve,” the sources said.

Excavation works have been carried out to build a road linking numerous villages in Jbeil, stirring anger among residents who consider the project as a violation and an environmental massacre.

The road was set to cross through the Bentael reserve, the oldest nature reserve in Lebanon.
