A crackdown on outlaws in the Bekaa Valley spread early on Tuesday to the region's main city of Baalbek. Internal Security Forces soldiers deployed in the Baalbek neighborhood of Hay al-Sharawneh at dawn while others established checkpoints on side roads and entrances to the residential quarter. Tuesday’s move comes as a part of the security plan for the Bekaa Valley launched by the ISF, the Lebanese Army and General Security officers last week to recover the state’s control in eastern Lebanon. The initiative comes following a security plan launched in the northern city of Tripoli last April.
