REPORT: Milk producers hold sit-in in Bekaa
Milk producers held on Wednesday a sit-in near the agriculture authority in Zahle to protest the decision of Minister of Agriculture Akram Shehayeb to reduce the price of milk.

On Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture Akram Shehayeb agreed to set the price of 1 liter of milk at LL1,000.

Shehayeb noted that he agreed with the producers and manufacturers to launch an operation room at the ministry to receive complaints and follow up on all calls regarding the milk sector.

The price of 1L of milk was fixed last December at LL1,100.

On Sunday, around 100 milk producers and farmers cut the international road near the Bekaa town of Sarein and dumped 50 barrels of milk to object the drop in prices and their failure to sell their fresh milk produce.
