Upon the release of the final statement, the summit voiced its concern over void at the presidential level, noting that vacuum is yielding negative repercussions on all constitutional institutions.
Representatives of Christian and Muslim communities discussed the necessity of electing a new president at the soonest time possible, emphasizing that the election of a Christian Maronite president is a guarantee for the continuity of the state.
The representatives reiterated their support to all dialogue sessions, calling on all Lebanese factions to put their personal interests aside and work for the higher interest of the state.
On another note, they said that Lebanon may no longer bear the repercussions of the continuous influx of refugees, highlighting the necessity of securing the release of all detainees including the 2 kidnapped bishops Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church and John Ibrahim of the Assyrian Orthodox Church who were kidnapped on April 22, 2014.
