REPORT: Fatah official assassinated in Ain el-Hilweh refugee camp
The state-run National News Agency reported on Saturday that tensions were high in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh following the assassination of Fatah official Talal al-Ordoni.

The agency added that his nephew was also killed, and another civilian injured.

Supporters of Fatah opened fire in the air upon hearing the news of his assassination.

The details of the assassination are yet to be known.

In May 2014, Ordoni survived an assassination attempt in Ain el-Hilweh in southern Lebanon.

Ain el-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian camp in the country, is home to about 50,000 refugees and is known to harbor fugitives.

By long-standing convention, the Lebanese army does not enter the country's 12 refugee camps, leaving security inside to the Palestinians themselves.
