REPORT: Berri meets with Paraguayan counterpart, says dialogue only way to overcome challenges

Speaker Nabih Berri underscored his confidence in dialogue as the sole means to overcome the various challenges facing the country, noting "Lebanon is living under the pressure of the repercussions resulting from threats of terrorism on its already fragile security.”

During his meeting with Paraguayan Speaker Hugo Velazquez, Berri pointed out that “Lebanon is hosting 1.5 million refugees who fled Syria, not to mention the 500,000 Palestinian refugees already present in the country.”

The Paraguayan Speaker also visited the Grand Serail, where he met with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, alongside the head of the Lebanese-Paraguayan Friendship Committee MP Ayoub Hmayed and an accompanying delegation.

The conferees stressed the importance of bilateral relations, praising Lebanon’s role in combating terrorism.
