REPORT: Former Zahle MP Elias Skaff passes away

Former Zahle MP Elias Skaff passed away on Saturday after a long battle with illness. He was set to turn 67 on Sunday.

Skaff, son of former minister Joseph Skaff and Helena Nilacos, was born on October 11, 1948.

He was elected as leader of the Popular Bloc in Parliament in 1992, and reelected in 1996, 2000 and 2005.

He was appointed as Industry Minister in 2003, then as Agriculture Minister in 2004-2005, then held the same portfolio in 2008.

He leaves behind his wife Myriam Gebran Tawq and their two children, Joseph and Gebran.
