Activists marched on Sunday from Baabda towards Beirut’s Martyrs Square upon the call of Joy of Giving Association, the Beirut Bar Association and a number of schools, on the occasion of Independence Day.
The protesters raised a list of demands including the need to resolve the waste crisis, combat corruption as well as other issues.
Separately, hundreds of people joined a march organized by “We Want Accountability” campaigners from Beirut’s national museum toward Downtown Beirut's Martyrs’ Square, holding Lebanese flags and white flowers.
This as “You Stink” campaign activists also gathered in Martyrs’ Square.
They voiced rejection to terrorism, pointing out that the duty of the security forces is to protect the Lebanese people.
The activists reiterated that they will always struggle for Lebanon, stressing the need to elect a president and pass a new electoral law.
“Our battle against corruption is open-ended,” they added.
