Damascus historical monuments threatened with destruction
The war in Syria is not only destroying the present, but it is also threatening its history and past.

The old souks of Aleppo and Homs monuments have now vanished from Syria’s history, with residents of Damascus now fearing for the treasures in theirs.

Damascus is known for its sites with 6 of listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

These monuments are now threatened with complete destruction with clashes already causing damage to 5 of them.

Syrian citizens still mourn the loss of Aleppo’s old souks and say that they cannot afford the loss of their beloved city of Damascus.
