Hassan from Baabda: Lockdown decision needs serious engagement from all sides
Caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan said on Friday that the number of Coronavirus cases exceed the capabilities of the health sector in the country.

Hassan’s comments were made following his meeting with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Presidential Palace whereby he noted that a lockdown decision needs “a serious engagement from all sides.”

“Discussions also tackled the need of hospitals to up their readiness in combatting the virus,” he added.

Earlier in the day, head of Beirut’s Order of Physicians Sharaf Abou Sharaf called  for a total lockdown for two weeks or one month after the surge in Coronavirus cases in the country.

Abou Sharaf also noted that the capacity of hospitals’ beds reached its maximum, mainly in the intensive care units.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health announced that 2089 new Coronavirus cases were registered in the country during the past 24 hours with 7 more deaths.
