Introduction to the evening news 25-11-2012

A week full of political and regional events regionally and locally starting with what the Secretary General of Hezbollah.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Threatened on Sunday Israel that a confrontation with Lebanon will extend from the Lebanese borders to Eilat on the Jordanian border.                       

As this issue awaits an Israeli reply, other issues are taking place in the country.                      

The fate of the national dialogue table on the 29th of this month is still unknown; meanwhile MP Walid Jumblatt will declare his “rescue” initiative tomorrow.                        

A night before announcing this initiative, a delegation of the Progressive Socialist Party visited PM Najib Mikati at his residence.                        

And as the Syndicate Coordination Committee assures its strike on the 27th and 28th of November, Catholic schools tend to question whether to abide by this strike or not.                

In addition to this, the Lebanese basketball championship got postponed for a week in order to find a solution to the crisis it is currently going through.                                    

Events are not only internal; other foreign events erupted throughout this week.                              

In Egypt, millions are struggling and fighting after the decision of the Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to grant himself extensive new powers.                      
Consequently, hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Cairo's Tahrir Square.                             

This escalation came at the time when the Egyptian Presidency witnessed a slight decline perhaps to contain the resentment of the people and emphasize on the temporary nature of the constitutional declaration.                              

As for Syria, clashes are continuous; Syrian rebels said on Sunday they had captured a helicopter base east of Damascus after an overnight assault.
