REPORT: Lebanese mountain tops adorned with snow

The mountain peaks of Lebanon were seen adorned in white by Friday morning with snow covering towns and even blocking some roads.

In the Bekaa valley, the heavy snowfall blocked the international road linking Zahle to Tarshish, with vehicles equipped with tire chains making the exception.

On the other hand, the international road of Dahr al-Baydar remained open for cars, but the internal security forces decided to ban the passage of the trucks for fear of landslides.

In this context, the laboratories of the Scientific Agricultural Research Institute recorded 82 mm of rainfall between 19-12-2012 and 21-12-2012, bringing the total to 332 mm superseding last year's average record of 220 mm.

In the Chouf region, the snow covered the towns and villages located over 1100m, blocking the road of Maaser al-Chouf - Kefrayya. Accordingly, most of the schools closed their doors due to the snow.
