REPORT: Petition in support of 'Tripoli, a weapons-free zone'

Organizers of the campaign “Tripoli, a weapons-free city” launched a petition which will gather the signatures of all those who decided to condemn the sectarian strife and the random spread of weapons in Tripoli. The petition will also call on political leaders to preserve civil peace and on security and military bodies to play their role and ensure the safety and security of citizens.

The petition was launched with the participation of civil society representatives and different political leaders. The organizers seized this occasion to salute all those who contributed whether in person or through their institutions in delivering the message of turning Tripoli into a weapons-free city.

The petition will be presented for signing across Tripoli and supporters can also voice their support on the campaign’s website, allowing all Tripoli residents to support it wherever they were.
