Any upcoming agreement between Hezbollah, Bkerki?
It is unsurprising that a Hezbollah delegation led by Ibrahim Amin Al-Sayyed, the head of the party's political council, would go to Bkerki to offer holiday greetings. However, some sources claim that the party is unwilling to discuss any controversial file with Bkerki.

This year's visit is different in that both parties have rearranged how they manage their ties and disagree on how to approach the crisis on all fronts. Thus, what happened in the meeting obviously portrayed that.

The relationship was turbulent last year, even just recently. The conflict began with discussions on neutrality, moved to the issue of weapons, and resulted in the country's management by a caretaker government that disregarded the President's powers.

Therefore, this year's meeting was focused solely on the Presidency.

The discussion occurred within the framework of completing the dialogue that has existed for months between both parties through the representatives of Hezbollah, Abu Saeed Al-Khansa, and Bkerki, Walid Ghayad, who held several rounds of dialogue. Ghayad also paid visit to Dahiyeh and met with Ibrahim Al-Sayyed.

However, both sides were open and shared their perspectives on the presidential crisis during their meeting:

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai expressed his worry about the current presidential vacancy and the absence of Christians in positions of power.

He also emphasized restoring the nation's institutional order, beginning with the upcoming presidential election, and saving the economy.

The party's delegation agreed with Rai on this priority, noting what Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said about the party's desire for a president who would not "stab the Resistance in the back."

Then Rai mentioned that he is aware that the party supports Sleiman Frangieh.

"He is our candidate, and all political forces know that," the delegation immediately replied.

The Patriarch indeed praised Frangieh and his Christian standing, but this issue still calls for a "Christian consensus," according to Rai.

Therefore, the meeting ended, although communication would still be maintained between both parties through their officials in charge of the presidential election issue.

This will take place within the framework of a dialogue with the bilateral political movement to reach a consensus on the next President.

But will Hezbollah and Bkerki succeed in reaching an agreement? If so, would they force their decision on the other powers?
