REPORT: An uneasy task awaits Netanyahu

Many of those who occupied the cabinet seats in the past few years will disappear from the political scene during negotiations to form the new Israeli government. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be compelled to form his next government with other figures, mainly from the Yair Lapid party, the biggest winner in the past elections. Most of these new officials have no experience in politics.     

The head of the Likud party stressed that the formation of a new government is not an easy task, adding that negotiations will face many obstacles.       

Many barriers are standing in the way of Netanyahu; his colleagues in the Likud party have begun hinting at the necessity of holding him accountable for his failure in the electoral campaign. As to his traditional allies, including people from the extreme right and religious people, they contradict with the Yesh Atid party led by Lapid.       

If he chooses the government of Salam Fayad, he will have to give up the settlers party and if he chooses an economic government and equality in military service, he will have to give up religious people. However, if he chooses an extreme right government, he will have to engage in a confrontation with Washington and the world, which will lead to the premature toppling of his government.         

Meanwhile, the head of the Yesh Atid party, Yair Lapid, considered that he will not sit in a government which refuses to resume peace negotiations, adding that Israel is not the only one responsible for the stalled negotiations.
