REPORT: Baghdad distances itself from Syrian crisis

Iraq grounded a third Iranian aircraft heading toward Syria for inspection purposes, after Baghdad has stressed the need to take airtight measures in regards to the flights heading to Damascus.

The inspection team only found humanitarian goods, allowing the aircraft to carry on the flight to Damascus.

This comes as the US accused Iraq of “turning a blind eye to Iranian shipments sent to Damascus in order to back the regime of Syrian President Bachar Assad via Iraqi airspace.”

This report will examine the Iraqi government’s endeavor to roll back the accusations of US State Department as well as the stances of Iran which stood against the inspections of its shipments.
