Iraqi Minister of Telecommunications Mohamed Tawfiq Allawi resigns

Iraqi Minister of Telecommunications Mohamed Tawfiq Allawi resigned from office on Monday due to what he said were “political interventions hampering the work of the ministry”.

In an interview with AFP London, Allawi said his resignation was inevitable as Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki would not approve conditions to halt the aforementioned interventions.
