US urges Israel not to approve bill banning UN Palestinian refugee agency

The United States on Monday said it was "deeply concerned" about a bill under consideration in Israel's parliament aimed at banning the U.N.'s Palestinian refugee agency.

"We have made quite clear to the government of Israel that we are deeply concerned by this, this proposed legislation," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters, reiterating the "critical" role the agency plays in distributing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
