UN Security Council to meet Saturday to discuss situation in the Middle East

The United Nations Security Council will meet on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, according to its agenda released on Friday, following the Israeli security cabinet’s approval of a plan to seize control of Gaza City.

Earlier on Friday, Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the U.N., said several countries would request a Security Council meeting to address Israel’s plans.

The meeting is scheduled for 19:00 GMT on Saturday, according to the agenda.
