Germany says 'stable France' is important for Europe after PM quits

Germany said Monday that a "stable France" is an "important contribution to stability in Europe," following the resignation of France's new prime minister after less than a month in office.

Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius, however, insisted that "there is no reason to doubt that France is stable," after Sebastien Lercornu's abrupt resignation deepened the country's political crisis.
