Draft peace plan does not require Kyiv to formally renounce NATO bid: Zelensky

A new draft proposal to end the Russian invasion, negotiated between Kyiv and Washington, does not require Ukraine to formally renounce joining the NATO military alliance, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said in remarks published Wednesday.

"It is the choice of NATO members whether to have Ukraine or not. Our choice has been made. We moved away from the proposed changes to the Constitution of Ukraine that would have prohibited Ukraine from joining NATO," Zelensky said, referring to a previous U.S.-drafted plan that would have required a legal commitment from Kyiv not to join the bloc.
