Today, Lebanon assumes the chairmanship of Arab League Council
Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour is expected to take on the chairmanship of the 138th session of the Arab League Ministerial Council for a six-month period from the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Before Mansour assumes the chairmanship of this session’s first meeting, Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi is expected to visit the League’s headquarters and hold a speech to give the League’s work a new momentum. The president’s speech will be followed by speeches for Sheikh al-Sabah, Minister Mansour, Arab League’s Chief Nabil Elaraby and the Cypriot Foreign Minister.

The Arab League Ministerial Council’s first working session will kick off at noon, and will be followed by a lunch banquet held by FM Adnan Mansour at the League’s siege in honor of the heads of delegations and their representatives who do not include a representative for Syria due to the suspension of its membership.

It is noteworthy that Mansour is the third Lebanese foreign minister to chair such a ministerial session after former Minister Mahmoud Hammoud (2002-2003) and Minister Fares Boueiz (1991-1992).
