Security forces deploy in the Dahiyeh region

Security forces started deploying on Monday in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahiyeh, Hezbollah's stronghold.

A task force which includes 100 General Security members, 300 soldiers and 400 Internal Security Forces members started taking over Hezbollah checkpoints in the region.

The security forces began deploying in the Mar Mikhael neighborhood, the Msharrafieh and Ghobeiri neighborhoods.

The step aims at ending Hezbollah self imposed security following two deadly explosions that targeted its stronghold in the suburbs.

Caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel later said from the Dahiyeh region that the deployment aims at reassuring the people despite "the weakness we are suffering from."

He also called on the residents to cooperate and to support the security forces in their task.

He hoped  that such security measures will be implemented in the city of Tripoli which witnessed two blasts in August.
