Gemayel: Attack on UNIFIL has a destabilizing purpose

Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel said that for the second time in less than six months, the French peacekeepers working with the UNIFIL in southern Lebanon are assaulted.

“This terrorist attack aims to undermine stability, deal a blow to France’s role to restore peace and protect the Lebanese people’s right to live safely on their land, and shake the international community’s trust in Lebanon”, he said.

Gemayel released a statement in which he supported the role played by France and the United Nations in Lebanon and the region, hoping that the identity of those who are trying to turn Lebanon into a mailbox in those critical times will be revealed.
