President Sleiman follows up on internal issues with concerned authorities

President Michel Sleiman followed up Thursday on measures by the concerned authorities to address the repercussions of the storm hitting Lebanon,
He urged the concerned authorities to stay on high alert and to fulfill their duties throughout the current circumstances.

On another note, President Sleiman held a meeting with caretaker Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn whereby they tackled the situation in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli as well as measures implemented by the Lebanese army which was tasked with maintaining security in the city.

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.

But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
