LF leader Geagea: Preparations for my assassination are ongoing

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Monday that deliberations are still "ongoing" between March 14 alliance's figures over the formation of the new government.

He voiced hopes that "the other party would respond positively to the stances launched by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri," in reference to March 8.

"I don't agree with the content of Hariri's statements, although I agree with him on the necessity of taking steps forward to resolve pending issues," He added.

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri expressed on Friday his readiness to partake in a new coalition government with Hezbollah, noting that he is very "optimistic regarding the formation of such a government."

Hariri's comments were made during an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's deliberations in The Hague.

Hariri added that he is trying to rule the country with the rest of the country's officials due to the difficult circumstances in which Lebanon is passing through, mainly after the International community failed in dealing with the Syrian crisis.

Geagea also noted that the main condition for the March 14 alliance to partake in the upcoming government is Hezbollah's military withdrawal from Syria, as well as not mentioning the Army-Resistance-People formula in the ministerial manifesto.

On another note, the LF leader said that preparations for his assassination are "ongoing", adding that the Lebanese Armed Forces command pledged to follow up on the drone incident.

Security forces warned Geagea on Thursday that a drone had been flying over his Maarab residence for nearly two weeks. In April 2012, Geagea said he survived an assassination attempt when shots were fired at his residence.
