Change and Reform bloc reiterates support to the Bkerke National Charter after thorough study and evaluation

The Change and Reform Bloc said on Tuesday it expressed its support to the Bkerke National Charter after studying it thoroughly and evaluating whether its main points are in harmony with the bloc’s aspirations.

Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, MP Ibrahim Kanaan said the pact which was mentioned in the Bkerke National Charter stresses the importance of religious coexistence.

MP Kanaan added that Bkerke’s Charter is not a temporary settlement that can be overthrown when a conflict of interest arises, pointing out that the Charter tackled recurrent, inconsistent points of discontent apparent in 23 years of rule.

MP Kanaan also mentioned that the Charter suggested neutrality in order to preserve pluralism in Lebanon, emphasizing that neutrality is a requirement for dealing with internal matters.

On another note, MP Kanaan said the bloc calls for the formation of a national unity cabinet, adding that the bloc values the suggestion proposed by the Maronite Patriarchy.

“The only thing remaining is setting a work plan to implement the said Charter,” MP Kanaan concluded.
