Ogero media office issued a statement Monday declaring that setting fire to waste by citizens in the capital’s suburbs has damaged four primary and secondary land phone distributing stations in the regions of Ashrafieh, Hamra and Sanayeh, causing the disruption of internet and telephone services of 2000 subscriber lines in the said regions.
This comes after several distributors sustained damages in the regions of Mina al-Hosn, Ras al-Nabeh and Bir Hassan, bringing the number of disrupted lines up to 6000.
According to the statement, the technical teams sent by the company to fix the failures were unable to gain access to the distributing stations due to the piles of garbage in the streets.
Consequently, Ogero urged the concerned authorities to work on removing the trash from the streets, especially from sites of damaged distribution stations, in a bid to facilitate the access of technical teams to the said stations.
