Aoun: Geagea was the one who drew assumptions on his assassination attempt
Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said Tuesday that he endorses proportionality in all its forms and supports the establishment of a Senate. Aoun voiced his support to the Lebanese expatriates’ right to vote, adding “I was the first one to call for the expatriates’ voting, but what can we do if they do not want to vote?”

Following his bloc’s weekly meeting, Aoun said that the cabinet must accomplish many projects after it was granted confidence again; mainly it has to complete the state budget and the administrative appointments process.

“We disagreed on the appointment of a president for the High Judicial Council, but why are the rest of appointments, such as the diplomatic appointments, frozen?”

Aoun stressed that the cabinet is the one to appoint the head of the High Judicial Council adding that article 52 is one of its prerogatives. “Why is it implemented by the president then?” he wondered.

“Why does the president want to accomplish things beyond his prerogatives while he refuses to carry out his own prerogatives?” Aoun asked.

Aoun stressed that the Change and Reform bloc was not the one who drew assumptions about investigations into the attempt to assassinate Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea; “Geagea himself did that”. Aoun added that his bloc did not make false allegations while others “put on a show that left the public opinion in a state of shock”.
