STL holds evidence not based on telecom data

Okaz newspaper quoted the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) spokesman Martin Youssef Thursday as saying that sections of the indictment have not yet been disclosed as part of measures put in place to protect the witnesses, adding that STL special prosecutor Danielle Bellemare holds additional evidence not based on telecom data. “

The STL does not adopt or endorse the stance taken by any political parties, and operates exclusively at the level of individuals,” Youssef said. “The evidence presented with the indictment by pre-trial judge Daniel Fransen constitutes a complete step in the judicial process”, Youssef said, adding that according to the courts rules, the indictment should not remain confidential.

“A trial in absentia would not take place until the Lebanese authorities and all other bodies connected to the court have fulfilled their duties as outlined by the STL, but have failed to arrest the suspects listed in the indictment”, Youssef added.
